The 2010 Honda Insight

Honda priced its new Insight at a shade under $20,000, about $2,000 less than the outgoing Prius base model. In response, Toyota is scrambling to offer a new base-base-model 2010 Prius that will start at $21,000, and held the price of its most popular Prius model at $22,000. The El Cheapo Prius won't arrive until "later this year,"

Bentley Continental GTC

GTC Speed is remarkable in that it returns positively the worst gas mileage I have ever observed in any car that didn't have a roll cage and parachute on the back. This, the high-performance version of the Continental GTC -- powered by a 6.0-liter, 12-cylinder engine producing 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque -- is a woeful and desolate killing field of hydrocarbons, the wailing wall of dead dinosaurs. In typical, around-town, stop-and-go driving, this exquisite British convertible gets about 5 to 7 miles per gallon, and during hard acceleration 3 mpg.

New York Auto Show: 2013

The tagline for GMC's 2010 Terrain is "The CUV hs bn cndnsd," which they intend to mean it's all about smaller size yet bigger capability. The direct-injection 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine returns 30 mpg, the MultiFlex sliding rear seats provide huge storage space or best-in-class leg room, and among the many storage spaces, the center console can swallow a laptop.

New York Auto Show: Scion iQ 2009

To no one's surprise, Toyota unveiled the Scion iQ concept at the New York Auto Show. Ever since the iQ debuted in Europe last year, the expectation has been that Toyota would sell the micro compact car as a Scion here in the U.S. to compete against the Smart ForTwo. What surprised us were the modifications made to the iQ for its debut in the States.
